Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Dr. VanWingerden founded Family Life Today as a non-profit, inter-denominational ministry to teach Biblical principles and skills to strengthen individuals and families. She authored an educational curriculum to help women, wives and mothers learn how to apply practical Biblical principles in everyday living. Marilyn also wrote and presented an original approach to individual and marital counseling integrating Scriptural principles with developmental and analytical psychology.
Family living class teachers and lay counselors were trained. Seminars, workshops, conferences, support groups, retreats and publications were offered from 1974 - 1989.
She co-authored an earlier work: "My Parents Cried Too." After completing a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, and a Masters in Social Work at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan in 1990, she opened an office in Clearwater Florida.
Family Life Today, Inc. then developed into a professionally licensed and trained group of therapists. In 1995, Marilyn completed a Doctorate in Psychology from Pacific Western University. In 1998, her dissertation was published.
A MOTHER'S LOVE ... Defiled by Incest
"The heart of the work continues in line with the original vision I had for God's people: to encourage individuals in families into a trust relationship with Christ, and provide everyday practical skills for personal and family living."
