John Van Wingerden, B.A., Acctg & Law,
President & CFO
Dr. Van Wingerden believes God's highest purpose for
His people is found in the family. For it is there we
reproduce ourselves. The meaning to family is about creating an
atmosphere of security, safety and love that will provide the mold
that shapes godly, healthy, and productive people.
The family provides assumed standards, morals, and
beliefs, along with an imprint of God's Design for each individual's
life, and the overarching sense that they belong to something greater
than themselves.
She writes, "There is an epidemic of young
people who have alienated themselves from the generation of their
parents. Disillusionment, confusion and loneliness reigns in our
youth. No one seems to care, or get involved, nor do they have
any real answers to what is wrong with their world. Bombs
detonated kill, abuse strips of any health, and divorce shatters
cohesiveness, while being taught in our educational systems that there
is no God and further that They are their own god! If we
get off the rat-race for one day and think about what our children are
saying it will ring true. They mirror who we are.
Reflecting on that gives a chance to change. I teach, counsel,
and write to inspire that change.
Married for 38 years, Marilyn and John raised 8
children (a his-mine-ours). Living its joys and difficulties,
they held firm to their faith, tried and proved, and Godly
principles that emit life-giving values. Now, they continue to
minister these to other individuals and families.
Today, Marilyn and John work full-time in this
ministry. Yet, it wasn't always that way. For 30 years John
worked in the business world, and retired from a large corporation as
controller of a major manufacturing group to join senior management of
another corporation.
John is the President and Chief Financial Officer of
Family Life Today, Inc. From its inception, John has been
manager of the finances.
He has been the "quiet generator" behind
the scenes of all that FLT, Inc. believes and stands for!
